Meet the Moonlight Team

Christina Valenti
Christina was born and raised in Columbia, Maryland. She began dancing at the age of 4 at Backstage Dance Studio and continued dancing there throughout high school. She was a member of her high school’s dance/pom team, cheerleading squad, dance company, and track team. Christina attended James Madison University, where she performed as a member of JMU’s nationally ranked dance team, the Dukettes. After graduating with a B.S. in Media Arts & Design and Corporate Communications in 2005, she spent several years working in the media and tourism industries in Washington, D.C. While living in D.C. she performed with the NBA’s Washington Wizards. Christina spent two years teaching English and Dance in Beijing, China before moving to Virginia Beach. When she moved to Virginia Beach, she worked for Channel 13 before realizing it was time to revisit her passion for dance and take a chance by opening her own dance studio – something she wanted to do as a young girl – and in 2018 Moonlight Dance Studio opened its doors.

She strives every day to be a better teacher and leader for her students!

Miss Jan
Miss Jan began her dance training when she was eight years old. Watching her best friend, Melanie, twirl her baton, Jan followed in her footsteps pursuing baton and adding dance to her training. She was hooked. She became a professional dancer, choreographer and dance instructor. She has performed at various dinner theaters and has judged at dance competitions across the Washington, D.C. region. She was also a summer replacement for the Radio City Rockettes, sadly they went on strike during that time… it was a good timing, though and her life took a diffident turn allowing her tour within the State Fair circuit. In 1990, she quit her Capitol Hill Washington D.C. job and opened her own dance studio in Maryland, “The” Dance Company. Miss Jan relocated to Virginia Beach to raise her family and has been teaching at Moonlight Dance Studio since its opening in 2018.
