The Moonlight Story
Moonlight Dance Studio opened in April 2018. As a brand new dance studio, we look forward to taking time to get to know you and your goals. Whether you are new to dance, hoping to participate in competitions, looking to make new friends, or anything in between, we are excited to dance with you! It is our goal to provide you a welcoming dance environment where you know you are important and where you have fun!
When I moved to Virginia Beach from Washington, D.C. one of the things I missed the most was dance. Dance had always been part of my life. I danced throughout my entire childhood, at the collegiate level, and professionally. As I got older, I had trouble finding a dance studio that fit my needs. I wanted to find a studio that was fun yet challenging; I also wanted a studio that felt comfortable and welcoming. I remember my dance studio from when I was kid - it felt like a second home. It was where my friends were and it was a place I felt comfortable. It was a place I looked forward to going to and I always left feeling happy. All of these feelings and memories have inspired me to open Moonlight Dance Studio.

I began dancing at Backstage Dance Studio in Columbia, Maryland at the age of 3, where I took ballet, tap, jazz, and lyrical classes through high school. I was part of the studio competition team, captain of my high school pom/dance team, a member of the dance company, a varsity cheerleader, and a sprinter/hurdler for the varsity track team.
I graduated from James Madison University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Media Arts & Design, Corporate Communications. At JMU, I danced on the nationally-ranked dance team, the JMU Dukettes. I also took elective dance classes so that I could incorporate dance into my studies.
After graduating, I spent several years working at the National Press Building in Washington, D.C.. In 2010, I moved to Beijing, China to teach English (Kindergarten- 2nd grade) and dance classes. Living in China for two years was a life-changing experience. When I returned to Washington, D.C. I worked at a museum, wrote and published two children's picture books, and was a dancer for the NBA's Washington Wizards. I moved to Virginia Beach in 2014 and worked for Channel 13 (WVEC).
I am grateful for all of these experiences as they have led me to open Moonlight Dance Studio.
